It's never a normal Christmas in my house.
That much I know.
It's been years since we had a true tree.
Only a foot high pink tree bears a star.
Well two smaller trees, gold and silver, keep it company.
No room to hide any presents beneath.
One present is opened Christmas eve.
A pair of new pajamas.
To be worn that night.
It's an old tradition.
That I actually love.
Christmas morning starts with food.
Pumpkin bread with chocolate chips is essential.
Freshly made the day before.
Once we've had our fill
Stockings come next.
Hanging on our mantel.
Purple, blue, and two green
make an interesting sight.
The rest is typical.
Opening presents.
But it's still not a normal Christmas.
Because Christmas is the only day
That my family sits in one room.
The only time we truly see each other.
That's why it's never a normal Christmas.
That much I know.
But it's my christmas.
And I wouldn't want it any other way.
