It is always exciting to go visit family and escape your normal life during the holidays. One of the most visited and desired places to go to is New York City, where there are dozens of attractions that are dedicated for the holidays.
I have had the pleasure of exploring this beautiful and vast city during the holidays, and all I can say is that no matter how many times I walk up and down the streets and avenues there is always something new to see and enjoy. The one thing that puts me in the Holiday spirit is seeing Christmas lights, and the one thing that New York City will never have enough of is lights. Passing by the Hallmark Window Display that shows different scenes from classic movies like Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, and Snow White; seeing the Giant Snowflake hanging above 5th Avenue by Columbus Circle; seeing Times Square lit up all night long, and the Rockafeller Center tree standing 84 feet tall is truly amazing. Walking down the busy streets with hot chocolate in one hand and snow slowly falling is a magical feeling that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.
In addition to seeing the city in full swing, it is heartwarming to spend the holidays with close family. Organizing dinners and Christmas parties with everyone creates a very nice holiday atmosphere. Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, and Cousins all gather around the fireplace drinking and eating amazing home-cooked meals. Everyone is sharing stories and their goals for the new year. This is one of my favorite parts of the holiday when everyone comes together to reconnect and spend some quality time with loved ones.
The fun does not have to stop right after Christmas is over, families can go ice-skating in Bryant Park and get hot apple cider right after in the Winter Village. As long as you can stand the long waiting times and freezing temperatures the city is a perfect place to make lasting memories. Just do not forget to pack a winter coat, some thick socks and buy tickets to The Radio City Christmas Spectacular to see with your family.
