Who loves Christmas? I know that I sure do. It’s easily my favorite time of the year. The movies, the candy canes, the decorations, and the music. The music is probably my favorite part about the holidays. It just makes me want to do all sorts of backflips. I’m twenty years old now meaning I’ve celebrated 20 Christmases, and throughout that time I have learned a few things about people.
What I’ve learned is that there are two kinds of people in this world: 1) the kind who only listen to Christmas music in December and 2) the kind who can vibe out to any Christmas Carol all year round. Where do I stand in this world? I am that girl that can get completely get into Christmas music at any time of the year. For those who don’t understand, let me shed some light on the topic.
If you’re like me then you enjoy most, if not all types of music, and it doesn’t matter if there is an “appropriate” time of year for it. A jam is a jam. “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber, “This Christmas” by Chris Brown, and “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey…all jams at all times of the year. If you’re also like me then you have friends who don’t understand why you do what you do. They critique and sneer at you but little do they know what they’re missing.
“OMG why are you listening to Christmas music it’s literally March?!” Okay, listen up buddy let me tell you why it's the best way that I know how. It’s kind of like eating breakfast for dinner. Not something that happens often but occasionally it’s the move. I understand that it’s out of the ordinary, but that’s what makes it that much better. This action almost brings out feelings of rebellion in a way. That ‘seems so wrong but feels so right’ type feeling. Additionally, it gives us something to either remember or look forward to. You hear a song and it reminds you of something you and your family sing each year around the dinner table, or you hear a song and it gets you excited for the upcoming holiday. Either way I get it, and I don’t judge anyone who shares this guilty pleasure.
