Christmas time is one of the nation’s favorite times of the year, and with it comes the sounds of the season – Christmas Music! Christmas is my favorite holiday because I love the lights, the decorations, but most of all, I love the music. Here are 8 reasons why I think that Christmas music is the best genre of all:

1. You can listen to it anytime of the year

Celebrating the Christmas spirit in December has got to be the most magical time of the year, so why not carry on all that Christmas cheer through the month of July?

2. Christmas music is always cheerful (most of the time)

If you refrain from adding the song “The Christmas Shoes” to your holiday playlist, then Christmas music can put most anyone, even the Grinch, in a good mood.

3. It is convenient for any occasion

Throwing on Michael Buble’s Christmas album during a dinner party anytime during the month of December can really set the mood for a festive evening. It’s even great to accompany a morning run in the snow (if you’re into that) or baking cookies for Santa.

4. It is great for all ages

Nobody can really, ever outgrow Christmas music because most traditional Christmas songs have been remade at one point or another, and in more ways than one, so that every age can enjoy a version sung by their favorite artist.

5. Anyone can sing along to it

Let’s face it, even the small population of people (very, very small) who dislike Christmas music know the lyrics to the most popular songs of the season.

6. Shopping in December is not the same without it

Can you even imagine buying gifts without the faint hint of saxophone and bells in the background? I sure can’t!

7. It’s G-rated

Christmas music is a great genre for parents to leave on the radio without having to worry about the upcoming song when their kiddos are in the room.

8. There is a variety of sub-genres

Whether it be traditional, classical, religious, pop, modern, even or jazz there is a fascinating adaption to most Christmas songs to please anyone’s ear.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
