Yes, I'm Already Listening To Christmas Music And You Should Be Too

In This Article:

And I have been since September. I love Halloween and Thanksgiving but, if given the option, I certainly wouldn't mind a four-month-long Christmas season. With all of my experience listening to Christmas music before the Christmas season, I thought it may be a good idea to share my favorite songs to listen to before the Christmas season to stand in solidarity with all those who celebrate Christmas months before it actually arrives.

1. Sisters from "White Christmas"

White Christmas

I know, this one isn't necessarily a Christmas song aside from the fact it appears in "White Christmas" but it's still one of my favorite Christmas songs. Every Christmas, my family watches "White Christmas" together an uncountable number of times and, given that I have three sisters myself, this was naturally my favorite song in the movie. To top it all off, Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye have a pretty great reprise of this song later on.

2. Silent Night

This one is a Christmas classic. For me, I sang this at the end of many Christmas services in church and sang it at the end of every Christmas choir concert in high school. It's calming and beautiful, and a wonderful song to worship to. No matter the arrangement, this never fails to be a classic.

3. Spirit of the Season from "The Polar Express"

I know this one will divide my family when they read it. While my dad, my oldest sister, and I love "The Polar Express", some of my other family members can't stand it. Still, this is one of my favorite holiday movies and this is the final song before we finally see Santa appear on screen and there's a magical scene of the entire tree lighting up. When I was little, I loved imagining myself at some sort of huge Christmas festival and this song helped complete the magic for me.

4. Silver Bells

I've always been a very visual person and Silver Bells always appealed to me because of that. I love the idea of walking down a lit up winter street at nighttime, looking at different decorations and displays set out. This combined with the fact it was a song I sang frequently for warm-ups in choir makes it a perfect Christmas song.

5. Stories from "Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas"

Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas

Sort of like Sisters, this song isn't specifically a Christmas song but I think it counts given it's in a Christmas movie. I was obsessed with Beauty and the Beast when I was little and therefore loved watching the Christmas themed sequel. I also adored books and that's what this song is all about. It's about all the stories that Belle plans to use in order to get close to the Beast/Adam so she writes and illustrates an entire book for him for Christmas. It's all told through animation based on illustrations in other books and Disney movies and it's a truly beautiful scene and song.

6. Angels We Have Heard On High

While this is a beautiful song, that's not why it's my favorite. In fact, I have a very personal reason as to why this song is on this list and that's because one of my sisters is named Gloria. What this means is every year when we sang it in church and we got to the portions of the song saying "Gloria", I would stare at her and nudge her. I'm pretty sure she hated it but I thought it was hilarious.

7. The Christmas Song from Pokemon Christmas Bash

You heard that right. There's a Pokemon themed Christmas album and it's just as wonderful and terrible as you're probably thinking it is. There are some original songs and some classics sang by the characters, which is where this song falls. It's the sixth track and it's sang by Jesse, James, and Meowth. There are plenty of Pokemon references (as you would expect) with an amount of holiday spirit you probably wouldn't anticipate from Team Rocket.

These are the best songs to listen to before the Christmas season officially starts and they range everywhere from absolutely beautiful to corny and they're all wonderful. I hope you have a wonderful early holiday season and wait in anticipation for the lights and decorations to start popping up soon.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
