In case you missed my first article on the subject of Christmas music, I am a firm believer in waiting until December to start listening to Christmas music. That being said, I do not want to stop listening just because Christmas is over. In the same way that the whole month of November should be focused on thankfulness, the whole month of December should be focused on the joy of giving.
It is sad that so many radios and stores completely cut off all Christmas music after the holiday, especially when many Christmas songs mention New Year's Eve. The music is still uplifting and brings people joy, reminding them of warm holiday times.
Families and friends are still gathered together celebrating up until the new year, so the spirit of Christmas is still alive and well even after the holiday. Many celebrations even take place throughout the next week after Christmas. As a child, I remember the days between Christmas and New Year's Day as a time spent enjoying gifts I received, seeing my family enjoy the gifts I gave, and spending the last few days of winter break I had with them.
I believe that the spirit of Christmas should be consolidated into the entire month of December. Christmas season is one of my favorite seasons of the year, and the Christmas music I listen to is a huge factor in this. The music truly gets me in the spirit and makes me feel warm and joyful throughout the cold month that is December. I can't think of another type of music I would like to listen to between Christmas and New Year's aside from Christmas music.
It's true: the actual week of Christmas is a time when "Go Tell It On The Mountain" by The Pentatonix should be on full blast, but I refuse to stop listening to my beloved Christmas songs immediately after the holiday concludes.
