National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation And 9 Other Christmas Movies To Kick Off The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

In This Article:

The most wonderful time of year is (almost) here! That means right after finals the Christmas movies can kick off your long Christmas vacation. But with so many out there how are you suppose to know what the best is? No worries, I have you covered. On a side note, however, most of these will be light-hearted comedies because, in my opinion, those are the best!

1. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1964)

This claymation film is sweet and fun! You can't help but fall in love with Rudolph and all of the other reindeer all over again after watching this movie!

2. Christmas with the Kranks

Ohhhh yes. This comedy will have you rolling. A good one to get you in the Christmas spirit early in December!

3. Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas

Yes I know we all think of Mickey as being a child's movie star. But you have to give this movie credit where credit is due. I always appreciate a movie from my old childhood favorites. So fun to watch!

4. The Santa Claus

This movie will have you thinking "... wait, what if my dad is Santa... NAH" But still, this movie is so fun!

5. The Santa Claus 3

The Escape Claus. This movie will give you an appreciation for Christmas as well as having a fun plot twist, dysfunctional family and yet still so full of love! Tim Allen sure does have a knack for Christmas movies!!

6. Home Alone

This movie is literally timeless. I am convinced I will be showing my kids this movie one day to kick-start their love for Christmas.

7. How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Jim Carey's Grinch. That Grinch. Hands down. Do not argue.

8. The Polar Express

I can remember watching this movie at my parent's house with hot chocolate all cozy in a blanket. Something about this movie just brings out your inner child, which, in my opinion, is the best when it comes to Christmas. Having your inner child explode is the best way to get you in the Christmas spirit.

9. Elf

Anything Will Ferrell is in, I want to see. This Classic is the trademark of Christmas meme's, countdowns, jokes, anything else you can think of. It was a close contender for first... however the next one has it beat.

10. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

This is the ULTIMATE Christmas comedy. This will get you right in the spirit throughout the process of family coming and going and the painful questions about life that are no doubt going to put a damper on your spirit. This movie will fix all the above.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
