"Have yourself, a merry little Christmas."

And that is enough singing for now. Christmas is right around the corner and between us, I think I have been good boy. Santa should be proud. Anyway, Christmas is always a time of love and family. It is one of my favorite holidays because my heart is always happy at the end of it all. You can say that the 24 hours a day, seven days a week nonstop Christmas music marathon might get annoying, but it is time to come clean, we all love it. Not only the music marathons, but the movie marathons as well like the classic "25 Days of Christmas" on ABC Fam... sorry, the Freeform Network. Here is my top 11 Christmas movies to watch as this season peeks around the corner.

1. Home Alone

A boy gets left behind while his family goes to Paris and must defend his house from robbers. One of John Hughes' best films full of mischief.

2. Scrooged

A more modern take on the Christmas classic "A Christmas Carol," this movie stars the legendary Bill Murray as a television network president and... well you know the story.

3. Trading Places

A bet gets made on the idea of "Nature vs. Nurture" and has a street hustler trading places with a managing director.

4. White Christmas

One of my favorites actually and a classic, this musical has songs from the legendary Irving Berlin and will make you believe in the Christmas spirit again.

5. The Santa Clause

This was a favorite when I was a kid. Tim Allen scares Santa off of his roof and ends up taking his place and having to fulfill the clause of the Santa Clause.

6. The Night Before

A more modern Christmas movie and a touching one with underlying Christmas movies. I do recommend watching this one because it is one of Seth Rogen's best.

7. Die Hard

"Yippie Ki-Yay Mother F#$%@r!"

8. It's a Wonderful Life

Another classic that teaches us to love the life we have. Who knows what will happen to the world if we were never born.

9. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Jim Carrey and a beloved Dr. Seuss book, what could go wrong? Not a thing. It is not really Christmas without a Grinch and Jim Carrey could not be more perfect.

10. Elf

Do I need to say anything about this one? Will Ferrell's best when it comes to family comedy.

11. A Christmas Story

So much I could say about this movie. This is my all-time favorite Christmas movie ever. A BB-gun, bullies, a leg lamp, a furnace, and adolescent adventures are only a part of this beauty.

So those are my top 11 movies for Christmas that I hold to my heart. I hope some of these are ones that you watch with your family, friends, or even just by yourself. There are many more and I wish I could list more, but it was a fun challenge narrowing it down. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays when the days come.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
