Top 12 Christmas Movies Of All Time

November is coming to an end, and we all know that means... it's finally Christmas! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas everyone, personally I've been celebrating since November 1st since we all know that's when the holidays really start. Without further ado, here's my heavily opinionated list of the best Christmas movies ever made.

1. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Giphy

Obviously this lovely green hairy creature earns 1st place. This movie is and always will be the best Christmas movie, no explanation needed.

2. Elf

Giphy

Christmas+Will Ferrell = The best thing ever made. I love Will Ferrell, and I also love Christmas, so I'd say that's reason enough to earn second place on this list.

3. Home Alone

Giphy

This movie kinda makes me wish that one day I'll be abandoned by my family while they go on vacation... is that just me or what?

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Giphy

Halloween and Christmas together makes for one very wonderful movie. Also I named my boxer puppy after everyone's favorite ghost dog, Zero (yes, that's how much I like this movie).

5. The Polar Express

Giphy

The main reason I like this movie is because it has a song about one of my favorite things: hot chocolate! I guess the magic train and the cute elves are cool too.

6. Gremlins

Giphy

These lil' creatures are too adorable to not love, just gotta make sure I don't feed them after midnight...

7. The Muppet's Christmas Carol

Giphy

If you don't like this movie, I'm concerned for you... what horrible things have happened in your life?

8. The Santa Clause

Giphy

Who doesn't like Tim Allen?

9. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Giphy

This cheesy '60's movie may have stirred up some controversy in the past few years, but it will always be one of my favorites.

10. A Christmas Story

Giphy

Weird leg lamps always make for the best movies.

11. Love Actually

Giphy

A cheesy rom-com and Christmas movie all in one? You can count me in!

12. Frosty the Snowman

Giphy

And last but certainly not least, we have this gem with a very entertaining snowman, and a slightly depressing end to the movie.

Well, folks, that brings us to the end of this list. I hope you have now changed your perspective on the best Christmas movies ever made.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
