To The People Who Put Their Christmas Lights Up After Halloween

Tis the season, do whatever makes you happy.

You know what? Go ahead and put those Christmas lights up. Turn up that Christmas music up and pour yourself some eggnog. Tis the season, because you are allowed to do whatever makes you happy.

This past week I went a got my first Christmas tree for my apartment. I got some crazy looks, but the happiness I felt made those looks irrelevant. I love Christmas and if I want to decorate "early" then I will, and you should too. Aren't we all supposed to be spreading good cheer?

If you want to go ahead and string up those Christmas lights, do it. If you are wanting to deck the halls to the max already, do it. If Christmas makes you happy and you cannot wait to start preparing for it, do it. No one else's opinion on how early or late you prepare for the holidays should matter when it comes down to what makes you happy.

Slide on those fuzzy Christmas socks and turn your channel to Hallmark, because you know you have a lot of Christmas movies to get under your belt. I'm not a huge fan of eggnog, so I would grab some hot chocolate and start binging something Christmas related on Netflix.

Invite all of your other Christmas loving friends and have yourself a tree lighting ceremony. There is no reason to hold back starting such a joyous season. If someone cannot appreciate how happy something makes you then they do not belong in your life. The negativity is not needed when you are just trying to make yourself happy.

Forget what other people think this holiday season, do what makes you happy, whether that is putting your lights up the first week of September or the last. We only have one life and it is your decision how to live it, do not let anyone else take your happiness, no matter what form it comes in.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
