Now that I've started my own family, the duty of taking on Christmas responsibilities has fallen upon me. I meticulously searched the Internet for toys, a tree, and decorations. I made sure to write out all of our Christmas cards in advance. I kept track of the parties we aren't going to attend. And suddenly, I find myself admiring people who have enjoyed this holiday. I've come to love the way the tree lights glow in our apartment when the lights are off. And the shine that houses put in my son's eyes as he looks on in awe.

Living this holiday through my son's eyes is giving me a new appreciation for this holiday and how beautiful it can be.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here.
