Christmas time is the most magical time of the year and that will never change no matter how old we get. As a child you spent months of thinking about what you wanted for christmas. Finally December came around and you got to write out your christmas list for Santa and the list mostly consisted of all the cool new toys that came out like moon shoes, the new furby, a bop it, maybe even a nintendo game boy if you thought you'd really been good that year. And then on Christmas day you would get all exited to open your new toys Santa had sneaked under your tree only to find that halfway through his delivery he must have " accidentally" gave you some things that were never on your list! You never wanted to receive these practical items as a child however if you were to open these gifts now, you would absolutely love them!
7 Christmas gifts you hated as a kid but love now.
1. Socks
When you opened that box with your hopes held high on unboxing the brand new set of legos or a new polly pocket but no, it was a package of socks. You know you have to act grateful for them but inside you're thinking about where that receipt went so they could go back to the store where they belong in exchange for toys. However now, give me all of the socks. Fuzzy, knit, cute prints, funny animals i will take them and love all of them!
2. Clothing
Now, maybe clothing wasn't that bad as a child if you were fortunate enough to have parents that picked out things you liked. As for the less fortunate children who unwrapped those hideous sweaters having to pretend to like them only wishing they could have just gotten toys instead the pain was real. Now, since Santa has had years of practice, you usually recieve clothes you love and wear all the time.
3. Gift Cards
They are How could Santa have given you such an impersonal gift? Honestly gift cards weren't the worst because you got the freedom of picking out whatever you liked but as a kid you felt like Santa just didn't know you. Now gift cards are super exiting for using on those after christmas sales.
4. Money
Again with the impersonal gifts.. c'mon Santa you should've known me better. Honestly, you never really hated money because money was fascinating as a kid and you could save it for the ice cream man in the summer, or just immediately spend it at Toys-R-Us. But, money didn't give you that immediate satisfaction of recieving a new Tamagotchi and being able to play while everyone else opens their gifts. Now, LET IT RAIN! You will never upset in the slightest when gifted cash.
5. Bath items
Why Santa? Why would I have wanted soap when I could get that any time of year? As a kid this gift was insulting but as an adult its one of your favorites. Now we all understand the craze of the bath and body works holiday scents and the sales people go crazy for. Bath and body works never fails as a christmas gift unless you're giving it to a kid who is expecting toys of course.
6. Food
If you opened up boxes of you're favorite candy's as a kid you got pretty exited for the sugar rush you were about to have, however shoutout to my mom who got me oranges ever year, yes I said oranges. Now, you probably didn't receive random fruits like the viral avocado kid or me and my oranges but admit it, that candy wasn't as satisfying as that new Skip-It you had on your christmas list. Now, homemade treats are probably one of the best gifts of all, you never fully appreciated them and all their glory while you could (college students, you know what I mean).
7. Stationary
With the exception of the Crayola 64 pack of crayons with the sharpener in the back, the dissapointment when you unwrapped any kinda of stationary as a kid was impossible to hide. Now you get unexplainably exited when you spot a pack of colored highlighters or a fresh new notebook.
So Santa, take notes. We may have not liked receiving these as Christmas presents when we were kids, but now we would totally go crazy for them. Any of these things are fair game *hint* *hint*.
