*sigh*

It's that time of year again. Out come the garlands, the nativity scenes, the ugly Christmas sweaters. As well, it's time to decide on a gift for your mother. Preferably one that expresses your immense appreciation for the love and support she provides all year long. No pressure. If you're stuck (or simply procrastinating), here are eight gift ideas that she'll love:

1. Pajama Set

You can't go wrong with a set of comfortable pajamas. Try buying a bundle set (which will include a sleep shirt, pants, and slippers) from Victoria Secret or a department store, like Macy's.

2. Jewelery

Jewelery may seem like an expensive idea, but it doesn't have to be. Try buying a simple pair of pearl earrings, or an Alex and Ani bracelet (which has customizable charms that add a touch of personality to the gift). Note: If your mother prefers to wear gold, don't buy her something silver, and vise versa.

3. Kindle (ebook reader)

Ebook readers are available at various price points, so this gift isn't going to break the back. If your mother likes to read, this multi-capable piece of tech will allow her to take her library with her anywhere. Try buying the Amazon Fire Tablet, or the Nook from Barnes and Nobles.

4. Popcorn (or some other artisanal snack)

Food is the neglected aspect of gift-giving. Cheese! Candy! Popcorn! Dried Meats! Even mothers have to eat!

5. Membership

Not necessarily suggesting you buy your mother a gym membership (unless you know she's been wanting one). You could buy her membership to an aquarium, or a museum. This gift lends itself to future experiences.

6. Gift Cards

Similar to the last suggestion, gift cards to her favorite restaurant or store extend past Christmas day and into the future.

7. Books

Try buying her a book she's been mentioning she wants to read; or, a book you enjoyed; or, a book the two of you can read together and discuss.

8. Fancy Wine

If you're mother enjoys having a fine glass of wine, then this gift will put a smile on her face. Go to a store that specializes in wine and ask someone to help you find something she'll like. Note: try to determine whether she prefers white or red, sweet or dry, before-hand.

9. Something She Wouldn't Buy Herself

This one is a little vague and depends on your mother's personal preferences. If she's the sort of women who only ever wears black, try buying her a bright-pink shirt. It's something she never would have thought to get for herself, and it will mean a lot coming from you.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
