When your wallet has gone dry, try to target the heartstrings of your friends and family! Trust me, there is more than just "the one perfect gift" that you know they can buy for themselves.

Since we have all given thanks to our family and friends, it is now time to panic to find the right gift to show your love!

Black Friday may have been the ticket, but you had a “treat yo self” moment and your level of broke mimics mine.

This is the solution! A list of gift ideas that acknowledges you're broke, but still shows how thoughtful you are!

1. Book(s) Personalized

You can walk into a bookstore or order online! Think really hard about who you’re buying for! What is their dream career? Do they prefer poems or maybe a coloring book? Think about what type of movies or T.V. they watch, give them a book that mimics their documentary addiction.

Pro Tip: https://www.thriftbooks.com, thank me later when you find the textbook section.

2. Dollar Tree Spree

There is nothing better than piling items in the cart and the checkout amount reading under $10! This idea mimics any secret Santa where you stuff a shoebox full of everything that the person says they love. The best part of this is that you can wrap the contents inside without a cheat sheet making the package special when your friends or family notice how much you pay attention!

Pro Tip: Buying in bulk is key! Look out for hot cocoa packets, candy, and scrunchies sold in multiples.

3. Framed Picture

This gift is a perfect calling for all parents! Mirroring the numerous times that they forced you to turn and smile, this is your time to pop your favorite picture, especially the ones you know they’ll melt over, into a picture frame you snatched from the thrift store, dollar tree, or local sales rack.

Pro Tip: Add a lovely card you made yourself covered in thanks and narcissistic goo to remind your parents why they love you so much.

4. Give-Me-Down

Everyone has been stuck with outdated hand-me-downs, but we all have that one friend who is in love with that one piece of clothing in your closet. If you're willing, wrap it up and give it away! Not only will she die of happiness, but you won’t be getting that constant reminder that she wants to borrow it next Saturday night.

5. Plants

As this trend grows of adding a little touch of green to everyone’s productive lives, why not embrace giving your bestie a "pet" with minimal effort! Not only is it insanely affordable, but almost everyone will love their new roommate.

Pro Tip: Add a cute nametag and the plant’s life story for an adorable adoption.

6. A Trip Certificate

You may be broke now, but in the future, your pockets may be lined enough to cover gas and snacks as your friend cashes in their travel coupon. Anything from a short drive to a road trip for the ages!

Pro Tip: Make your trips something that they like or leave the decision up to them.

7. Photo Album

Add anything from saved Snapchats, ugly screenshots, and scripted candids, to a cheap photo album that can be easily stacked with documented memories!

Pro Tip: Add a cute little note beneath each picture with a description marking the place and date.

8. When in Doubt Amazon it Out!

Check it out here!

Donut miss out on this!

Keep your cat-obsessed friend warm here!

There is nothing that some good digging can't produce from an Amazon binge. Buckle down and hope you can come up with some cute gifts!

Congratulations, you have given your love to all without breaking the bank! Now curl up in your holiday gear with a hot cocoa you snagged from that Dollar Tree spree.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
