I love my dog more than I love myself, so getting the news that having matching pajamas with your dog was a thing, I got very excited. As in, so excited, I took my lunch break at 9:45 a.m., drove to Target and bought my dog Payson and I matching pajamas excited.
If this is any indication on what I will be like as an actual mom, my kids better beware because I am going all out for Christmas. I'm talking correlating outfits, Christmas cookies, hot chocolate, lights, cards, the whole shebang. I grew up on the mantra that you either go big or go home for Christmas and you bet I am going to Christmas the heck out of my house whether my husband likes it or not (he better).
Let me just tell you, you may think you don't need to wear matching pajamas with your dog, but you actually really do. It is the best feeling ever to be sitting down by the Christmas tree, a cup of cocoa in one hand, a freshly made gingerbread man in the other, and your dog in matching pajamas laying right beside you on a soft blanket. Both of you watch the Hallmark channel and act surprised when the New York City girl chooses the small-town farmer over the hotshot CEO, even though you totally saw it coming because it happened in the last four Hallmark movies you watched.
This is also a great opportunity for a Christmas card photo-op. Or even an Instagram photo op. Imagine the adorable photos and memories you can create within the soft confines of these Christmas cotton pajamas. Imagine opening gifts on Christmas morning together. Imagine the look on the Amazon deliverer's face as you answer the door carrying your dog, both in matching sets. Imagine the neighbors who see you walking your dog, dressed to the nines for Christmas, and spreading holiday cheer. This is the type of Christmas you need. The one that puts smiles on people's faces and makes their heart melt.
You and your dog are best friends so why not splurge a little and buy that matching set? There are literally countless prints for you and your dog to pick from. I went with the classic red, but you can get Christmas lights, Charlie Brown, snowflakes, plaid, etc. Heck, get one for each day of the week as you countdown for Christmas. Nothing bonds a person together like matching outfits and this will be sure to bring you and your dog closer together.
I can promise you from now and until Christmas my dog and I will be sporting our pajamas all day and night and cuddling in this cute attire. You can find us watching A Christmas Prince under a Christmas blanket with matching Christmas mugs to drink out of and smiles on both of our faces.
