Now that Thanksgiving is over, we can finally move on to celebrating Christmas in agreement. Many people have already started (or even finished) decorating for Christmas, but if you need some ideas to get started or a little inspiration on how to finish your decorating, this is the list for you! Take a look at some of my mom's Christmas decorations, all pictures are of her Christmas decorating skills!

1. Christmas Pillows and Blankets

Christmas pillows can immediately make any room Christmassy. Couches and chairs are usually focal points of rooms, so adding pillows and blankets to make them Christmas-themed, makes the room instantly Christmas-themed as well! Pillows and blankets are also super easy to find in hundreds of patterns, textures, and sizes! Also, your pets will love you!

2. Vase Fillers

If you have vases, lanterns, or any clear holders in your house already, add some Christmas-colored vase fillers to instantly put them in the spirit of the season! You can buy vase fillers or make your own from whatever you have, just as long as they're red, green, white, gold, or a combination. Even blue can be winter-themed!

3. Signs

Signs can be so cute and so easy to make a room Christmassy. Depending on the sign it can be as loud or as subtle as you want! Go big and with reds and greens or go small with neutral colors and just a Christmas quote! You can never have too many signs, so get a combination of signs to spice up your rooms!

4. Lights

Lights are associated with Christmas automatically. So, if you need to make your room look a bit more Christmassy, just add lights! Find things to wrap them around or lay them on a shelf and decorate on top of them!

5. Trees

There's an odd stigma that people are expected to only have one Christmas tree, but that's just not the case. You can have your one main tree and put your gifts beneath it, but smaller ones make for excellent decorations, because like lights, trees are also associated with Christmas.

6. Bulbs in Bowls

When in doubt, find a cute bowl, even if it itself is not Christmas, and add some Christmas things to it. This, I think, is one of my mom's favorite things to do because of how easy it is and how cute it turns out! Red and green bells, marbles, or ornaments with some lights, fabric, or small garland make for adorable decorations or centerpieces!

7. Garland

Garland can be a pain to put up, but once you do it's so worth it! Garland can be cute and Christmassy on its own, but adding lights, tinsel, or garland makes it perfect!

8. Seriously, Add Pillows

Even if they aren't on your couch, pillows are excellent and cozy decorations. If you have window seats or places to put pillows that aren't couches, beds, or chairs, go for it! Window clings are also a very simple and decorative option, though! Especially if you have a big window that's a focal point to a room, window clings could be a great option!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
