Christmas in Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College is a once in a lifetime experience. Whether it's your first year in choir or you're a senior singing for the last time, most of these thoughts have crossed your mind in the preparations for performance weekend.
1. Always having one of the songs stuck in your head.
Or rather, just engraved into your mind.
2. Picturing yourself singing the "Noel" solo at least once
Or singing 100 times.
3. Hoping your hands aren't sweaty for "O Come, All Ye Faithful"
And apologizing nonstop to the people sitting next to you who have to hold them.
4. Praying you're not that one kid who can't blow out their candle right away
Every. Time.
5. Hoping you still have your eyesight after staring into those bright lights all weekend
And squinting to see your conductor...
6. Crossing your fingers that the camera isn't on you when you forget the words in the middle of a hymn
When in doubt, just hit the notes.
7. DREADING having to wear those shoes
If you're a girl, that is.
8. Being terrified you might come in early or sing the wrong part
#ChoirAnxieties
9. Hoping you don't face-plant during the processional
Think graceful thoughts.
10. Trying to calculate how much sleep you'll actually get this weekend
Or if you'll even get the chance to go back to your dorm sometime.
11. Wondering if you'll ever get any of your homework done
Not happening...
12. Promising yourself that you won't cry
And breaking that promise on the first night.
13. Wondering if you'll make it through the service without your bladder exploding
At least the 'potty dance' will make your movements more expressive.
14. Being extremely grateful that you're blessed to be a part of such an amazing production
In the end, it's all worth it.
