If you’re anything like me.... you’re throwing your hands up and praising God for making it through another semester of school. College is no joke. It means a lot of all-nighters, too much Starbucks, and a book sack that kills your back because that one professor insists you bring your textbook to school (yes that 500-page textbook). So, while I could go for a massage and a lot of sleeping in, the thing I’m most excited about is binge-watching all my shows that I never have time to watch during the semester. Christmas break becomes a little better when you throw on some pajamas, pop some popcorn, and sit by the fire binge watching some juicy shows (yes I’m pointing to you Shonda Rhimes!) Here’s my list of highly recommended shows for a night of hot chocolate sipping.

1. Grey’s Anatomy

This season is killer; I don’t know how I fall in love with Meredith more and more every season but I do. Plus, it could be considered educationally if you want to go into the medical field.... yes that’s how I justify re-watching every episode for the second time!

2. Stranger Things

Two seasons out on Netflix and I’ll admit, I was waiting for this one since I saw the finale of season one!

3. Will and Grace

Eeeekkk! I had never watched until Hulu decided to put all seasons online, and they just started filling another season. I love Will. I love Grace. But my favorite combo is definitely Karen and Jack. If you watch this show, you understand my love for Mrs. Karen Walker! Be prepared to laugh until you cry, with frankly no educational purpose at all!

4. The Crown

Season two is available on Netflix, and I could not be more excited. If you’re a little nerdy like me, you will love it! Plus, the actress playing Queen Elizabeth is 100% perfect. Watching the show and learning history makes me not feel bad for not getting out of bed to watch all 20 something episodes. Watch this, I promise it won’t disappoint!

5. How I Met Your Mother

Enough said. If you haven’t watched this, then I feel sorry for you. It’s on the same level of funny as "The Office," and if you don't already know how he met her mother, then you better find out ASAP!

6. The Office

This one never ever gets old. My entire family and I have seen this show so many times and we will literally be in tears laughing so hard. If school isn’t working out for you, you can always apply for Dunder Mifflin.

7. Gilmore Girls

An oldie, but a goody. If you just want to fill all warm inside, turn this one on! They also just released 4, hour and a half episodes, which will probably leave you in tears with a box of tissues in your lap. Is it possible to have happy and sad tears at the same time?

8. Speaking of tears... This Is Us.

Y’all, this show is some kind of good. Literally. Your entire family will love this one. This show is actually running now, so you have two seasons to catch up and prepare for its return in January! Do it. You won’t regret it.

9. Game of Thrones

To be honest, I haven’t watched it yet, however, it’s been highly recommended for it to be on my list. This is a top priority for me so I can finally keep up with everyone’s tweets and Halloween costumes referencing it.

10. Parks and Recreation

This one is a super funny show. Leslie might become your new best friend after watching this one. Or make you want to work in the nearest recreation department. This one is an easy and entertaining show for your entire family. I throw this show on anytime I’m multitasking: writing a blog, wrapping gifts, folding the 4th loads of laundry I’ve put off hanging up.

So there you have it. Your winter break won’t be complete without some binge watching.... so pick your taste and eat all the yummy treats your mom is making for the neighbor next door (whoops, sorry Mrs. Pam.)

Also... if you don’t have Hulu or Netflix accounts, make sure to sign up as a student and get that discount! While Netflix will play 3 episodes then you’ll get the “Are You Still Watching?” don’t feel bad, you aren’t alone. I mean don’t we deserve a nice break from the library and highlighting notes? Yeah, I’m pretty sure we do!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
