Everyone has their favorite holiday whether it’s valentine’s day for those lovers who choose to spend their time together, or maybe it’s Easter for those young ones who love to hunt for eggs and fly kites in the backyard. What about those who enjoy the festivities of the fourth of July and the fireworks that color the evening sky, or maybe a birthday is preferred since it means another year older. If anyone is like me they love Halloween whether it’s carving the pumpkins, dressing in costume, trick or treating, or scaring the pants off of other people. If anyone’s like my mother they have a love for anything fall and Thanksgiving takes the cake with all the cute scarecrows, corn stalks, hay bales, pumpkins and gourds, and the color of the leaves. Then there are the holidays that come in December such as Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas.
Sure Christmas is a great holiday. Christmas was actually created to celebrate the life of Jesus Christ, but over the years was celebrating using a Christmas tree, presents, and family. Around this time I love to look at all the lights, I love drinking hot chocolate around the Christmas tree, and I love wrapping presents… IN DECEMBER! Every year it seems like Christmas is being advertised way too soon. All the Christmas decorations used to be put out the week before Thanksgiving and the tree would be set up the week after, but today we haven’t yet had Halloween, but instead of Halloween decorations up front all we can find are Christmas lights and bulbs. People have already put their Christmas tree up. ATTENTION WORLD! Stop trying to speed up the process and enjoy the other holidays that are to come before hand.
There’s nothing wrong with loving Christmas, but Hallmark is already playing Christmas shows when they should be playing scary movies for Halloween. And why are there not many Thanksgiving shows? Why Christmas? Is Thanksgiving no longer a holiday? Is it not good enough to have millions of shows and songs dedicated to the season? WRONG! Christmas decorations shouldn’t be put up until the day after Thanksgiving and the tree should wait at least a week later, especially to give it that fuller effect and greener color. I have nothing against Christmas, in fact I love the season. I just think that the other holidays should get the credit and recognition that they deserve. Besides, after just a month of Christmas I’m sick of the concept let alone three. But everyone has difference in opinions. What do you guys think? Should Christmas wait til after Thanksgiving or should we celebrate three months worth of Christmas?
