Christina Grimmie's Memorial Service

Christina Grimmie now sings amongst the angels – a YouTube famous star who was on the voice of season 6 back in 2014 just as she was becoming a well-known voice star with over 3 million + subscribers and countless adoring fans.

Rest in peace, Christina and live on your dreams and ambitions up above, wherever you are, for you will always be loved and missed by many.

Christina laid to rest the night of June 11, 2016 and had her memorial service the weekend of June 17 and 18, 2016. Kurt Hugo Schneider, Sam Tsui, Tyler Ward (artists she grew up with and famous YouTubers in her life) and many more honored the fallen star. They each wrote songs in honor of her grace and left a work of art in her name.

On a more personal note...

Dear Christina,

To me, you were more than just a pretty face or a girl who could sing her lungs and heart out; you were a caring individual with faith who also only wished to make everyone happy and proud when in your awe-inspiring presence. Yes, I've known of you for some time now, actually from the moment you started singing covers on youtube at a young age back in 2009, but never did I know how much we truly had in common until you passed and I rewatched all of your videos on youtube and saw what your friends had said about you. Yes, I always knew we shared a strong bond, I just regret never getting the chance to meet you and see you live, which was always my number one dream. You were caring and goofy and to me, your heavenly smile was contagious and full of life. Over time, I could see you as someone who would be my best friend considering we loved the same hair styles, we dressed similarly growing up, we enjoyed similar authors and quotes, we loved all things cute, we were super creative and random, and although makeup wasn't our thing at first we tried it anyways to come and find we enjoy putting it on from time to time. Not only this, but we have similar families and friends and to me, that made us inseparable in my mind, because one of my closest friends growing up looks identical to you and both of you shared similar personalities, too. Though we both love to sing, I always knew deep down that you were much more than just an incredible singer and it turns out I was right all along - but not even your fan base always got to see your true self because some of us only saw you sing, unless some of the more fortunate fans were able to watch you do live youtube and younow broadcasts, which I found you did from time to time. Despite this, I think most of your songs resonated well with your fan base and I and because of your gifts and kindness, you reflected your true image onto us, which was the beauty you held from within, even if we never knew you personally. Overall, Christina, you bestowed a powerful gift "with love" (a song made for her fans and God back in her 2013 album "With Love") to all your adoring fans by never changing who you are or who you were for others and by staying positive while pursuing your wildest dreams and aspirations to become a youtube voice star and so much more. Your voice may have left a legacy, but so did your heart.

Stunned by the news, I came to find that even my boss knew her personally; he knew her family for years and knew Christina for the past 9 years and they were close, though I will spare you his name and all the details. All he could truly sum up to me was that Christina was a loving and caring woman whose goofiness and personality shown out to all, allowing herself to embark on the 22 year long journey that was her life.

According to C.S. Lewis who Christina Grimmie very much so believed in and looked up to all her life, as her best friend Sarah talks about her on stage by her side at their home church in New Jersey, she says what makes her think of Christina the most is her love for God and C.S. Lewis’s saying “you don’t ‘have’ a soul,” but rather, “you are a soul” and “you have a body”. These are lines I will truly never forget because even to me, they resonate so well with her and her ideal Christian faith. After reading up on Christina for hours and watching all of her last stories and songs and accomplishments, I have come to realize just how beautiful of a person she truly is and always was. As my friends and I say, may she live in peace, because resting is something she wouldn’t do for she would only love to walk with the living spirit, her lord Jesus Christ, and to walk on benevolently in stride with Him, his hands in twine with her own. May she walk in the light of the lord and amongst angels and even strangers up above, for even souls and spirits can uphold her truth and blessing of a frame.

As her friend Sarah says, without a shadow of a doubt, she would love to have her back because to her, Christina’s frame was unique and her complexion unadorned–she was like Sarah’s twin and when they decided in first grade to get the same hair cut, even her parents confused the two, making Christina’s friend Sarah feel that every time she see’s her reflection, all she can do is cry and mourn the loss of her unique yet impeccable friend Christina, for the Grimmies and her lived together for over 18 years and were always closer than most.

Even her other friend Laura, by her side at the memorial, which is live on youtube at says there was never a time they fought or didn’t get along. There was always a love and trust that was infinite with her friends.

After all, Christina never asked for much and after hearing the words her pastor, uncle, and aunt have said, who raised her along with her parents and older brother Mark Grimmie, she was always a girl whose faith was beyond the bible and mere words. She gave everything her all, loved to read and learn and eventually create songs just for God so that one day she could join him and walk alongside his spirit.

In the end, Christina loved everyone and created priceless memories for her fans as she grew older. Making hundreds of youtube covers to going onto the voice with team Adam in 2014, anyone who grew up with her or discovered her would have supported and clung to her instantaneously.

Her covers with Sam Tsui and Tyler Ward have allowed her to branch out into the realm of youtube to become famous from the age of 15.

Her cover of Titanium and Just a Dream I find to be her strongest renditions (and most popular) but her music on the voice is by far her soaring anthem of success. After all this time, I have really come to adore her and by writing and publishing this article I was hoping to spread the word of her presence and music that will never fade or become jaded, no matter if she’s gone or living up above. She wasn’t just a dreamer, a pisces, and a musician/youtube voice star – she was beyond words of mundanity. She helped a world of viewers and fans come together and join forces through her gifts of kindness by sharing her kindred spirit to people who could only see her on the other side of the screen. We virtually wished we could see her in person, but many of us were not fortunate enough to have met her, including myself. I know deep down her music was made to uplift others, and not only herself, but the more I think of her, the more I wish I could have said my last goodbyes to her and been to her memorial and funeral procession run by her family and relatives and oldest biblical pasture. She is divine and unique in the sense of the word and I only hope to raise of her voice and introduce everyone to the one and only Christina Grimmie. May she soar higher than the heavens, may she make music so beautiful the angels cry and their tears create a stronger force otherworldly, which thus creates a storm below. May she never be forgot, for her frame and smile were something even her closest family members and friends held dearly. May she no longer walk alone, but rather in the hands of the Lord, a figure of truth, light, who is omniscient and omnipotent, that to her, she never wanted to live a day without.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
