In God We Trust?
Church of God of Prophecy

In this day in age, Christians get labeled as many things that we're not, simply due to a small percentage of Christians with misconstrued values and slim knowledge on the faith being the spokespersons for our religion. While the label "All Christians Are Hypocrites", is a logical fallacy, I believe that the false claim itself is embedded in partial truth.

I can't tell you how many times I've scrolled on Facebook or overheard a conversation at church where someone responded to a national/world crisis with the phrase "well we JUST need to trust God." The problem with this phrase isn't the part where we need to trust God, because I for one agree wholeheartedly. The problem with this phrase stems from the operative word being JUST and our actions as believers being JUST that.

As Christians, it's obvious that we should promote the Word of God not only verbally but through our actions as well. Yet, I must call us out as a whole in the area of falling short of being promoters of the Word of God through action.

Our words are not viewed as very heartfelt, when our actions communicate that us Christians are too good to get down and dirty and do some work. James 2:14-17 is very clear in the position that our words are simply not enough, that our actions must align with them. "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."

As believers we must be on one accord as to what it means to trust God. Trusting God is not simply commenting it on every Facebook video we see, but putting in work as well. Let's be clear that the work that must be done, will only be accomplished when we realize that God himself is not going to descend from heaven and give a power speech to the masses, convincing them to change their ways.

Not only are we trusting God, but God is trusting his people as well. He is trusting us to be the models of change. It will not be easy, but if you would be willing to TRUST God to bring you THROUGH it, I promise he will equip you with everything you need to accomplish it. Keep faith alive.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
