Why Christians Should Be In Media

The media. It’s arguably the most liberal and biased things that has ever been produced. So why would anyone want anything to do with it? Why would anyone, let alone a Christian, want to be a part of a newsroom or social media company that pushes a serious bias to one side or the other? Being a part of the media business isn't easy. Not a whole lot of people want to be there. But guess what, Christians…you should be there.

In the light of the new president of the United States, the media, as well as the country, have been in an uproar. I have heard handfuls of Christians criticizing news companies for not giving unbiased news reports. I have also heard those same Christians tell people that we need more Christian influences in the media. Instead of telling other people what they should do and be a part of, why don’t you try diving into that world? The media world can be a scary, scary place. But it won’t ever be conquered if you don’t get out there and do something about it.

I think I speak for most Christians when I say we’re tired of being misrepresented in the eyes of the media. It’s hard. But what’s even harder is seeing a lost world trying to stand on its own two feet. God put us here for a reason. He put us here to build relationships with other people, and more importantly build a relationship with Him. God has called each and every one of us to walk into hard and dangerous places to preach His Word and His love. God has given us the media as a tool to reach so many lost people. Why wouldn’t you want to be a part of it?

God made you for a reason. Don’t you want to have an impact on this world? Even if you don’t get to speak to thousands of people, you could have such a great impact in your media’s workplace. If you live by your convictions and God’s Word, people will see and want to know what makes you so different. You don’t even have to preach in a news article or a blog post. Just be a man or woman of God. Show others how God's People really are. And in turn, they'll see a whole new light.

So what is a Christian to do? Are you feeling represented? Are your opinions and voices being heard? No? It’s time Christians. It’s time we band together and make our voices heard throughout the nations, proclaiming the Word of God, proclaiming His goodness, and proclaiming love. What are you waiting for?

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
