If I call myself a Christian, others should know that by my actions. But do my actions actually point back to Jesus? Do I live a life that shows the love and mercy of Christ? We really have to be careful what we say and do because we are examples of Jesus, and this is a big responsibility. We can read the Bible and find tons of traits we should possess, but below are the eleven that I first thought of. We should be these things and so much more.
1. Godly
“But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”
I Timothy 4:7-8
2. Loving
“Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Matthew 22:37-39
3. Forgiving
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6:14-15
4. Kind
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32
5. Mature
“that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—”
Ephesians 4:14-15
6. Patient
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”
1 Corinthians 13:4 NIV
7. Hardworking
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Colossians 3:23-24
8. Strong
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
Ephesians 6:10-11
9. Generous
“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
Proverbs 19:17
10. Giving
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Acts 20:35
11. Selfless
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Philippians 2:3-4
If we show the characteristics above, people should know that we're Christians. Remember everywhere you go, someone is watching and you need to make a good impression for the Lord and bring others to him.
