The top five myths about Christians, debunked.

Being a Christian nowadays is extremely difficult. We're one of the most criticized groups ever. By definition, a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ and follows His teachings. If being a Christian is just that simple, then why are we hated so much? There are many misperceptions of Christians, but here are my top five.

1. All Christians are hypocrites.

If I had a penny for every time someone told me that the church is filled with hypocrites, I would be rich. Let's just take a moment to debunk this myth. Honest, true, genuine Christians are not hypocrites at all.

2. All Christians are boring.

We are not boring! I repeat, we are not boring! I've had some of the best times with fellow Christians. No we're not going to go out and party all of the time, but Christians do know how to have a good time. Now I'm not going to lie, I can understand where this myth comes from. Usually people think Christians are boring because they have been to a boring church service, even I have sat through a service where I stared aimlessly at the wall, but you just have to find a church that fits you. The church that I go to is great, my Pastor is fun and energetic. None of the people who attend my church are boring by any means.

3. All Christians are perfect.

This myth irritates my soul. Let me let you in on a little secret, Christians are not perfect and that is one of the main reasons we know we need Jesus in our lives. The Bible says "For all fall short of the glory of God." This means that even Christians mess up. It's tough being young and a Christian. Naturally because I'm young I make a lot of mistakes, and I absolutely hate being scrutinized by my peers for my mistakes, especially if they aren't Christians themselves. If you're a Christian or not the most important part about messing up is how you recover, and as a Christian I choose to recover by taking my problems to God.

4. All Christians are judgmental.

I hear this one all the time, and it's not true at all. A true Christians doesn't judge others, and this is another myth that I can understand where people are coming from. With all the television shows out about Pastors and Christians it's easy to see how people can think that we're all judgmental. These television shows are fake and don't show how a real Christian is supposed to act. Genuine Christians aren't judgmental at all.

5. All Christians are pushy.

Now this is probably the most annoying one. I'm not saying that I haven't met some Christians who have tried to shove the Bible down my throat, but you can't put us all under that category. I've bee told that I'm a tad bit pushy but I'm not. I just enjoy talking about God, the same way some people enjoy discussing a basketball game. Just because we like to talk about God doesn't mean that we're pushy.

These misperceptions are the most common ones that I'm sure you've heard. If you want to find out how false these myths really are, just hang out with a couple of genuine Christians and I'm sure you'll discover that we're actually pretty cool.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
