So I thought we would take a break from Vince McMahon and focus on something interesting that developed a week or two ago. Information related to a Chris Benoit-centric movie has moved forward. The reason this is interesting is...well unfortunately Chris was a wrestler for the WWE from 2000-2007. The reason he stopped working in 2007? Because he was dead...after he had killed his wife and son. Effectively blacklisted from the company after these crimes, it was discovered in the autopsy of his brain that he had the brain of an 85 year old man with Alzheimers. The company was forced to changed their practices in light of these events and Chris has been blacklisted for his crimes and remains an incredibly touchy topic of discussion for fans.
The reason it's weird that a movie is being made about him is that legally, the movie would need the ability to legally move forward requiring WWE to give the go ahead to portray its company or its wrestlers. Since this is such an incredibly sore subject for the company, seriously they don't EVER talk about him, the man won a Royal Rumble and main evented and won a Wrestlemania and they don't acknowledge him. This is worse than what they did to Hogan. Some people will say this is good but I will be really interested to see how they properly portray him in the movie.
Still, the director attached to it is the woman that directed Punisher War Zone. So it may not be good.
