Throughout high school, you start to learn things about yourself and take on many hobbies that you enjoy doing, whether that is making art, singing, or volunteering to helping out people. When senior year comes around, the question gets asked. What do you plan to study, or in other terms, what would be your major? From experience, some of the popular majors are computer science, nursing, any type of engineering, anything that is involved in science, technology, engineering and math which is also known as S.T.E.M. When it was my time to go to my college counselor to talk about what I wanted to study, I told him English.

With English, the main reason people think that we choose English is either to teach or to write, which is the reason why I want to be an English major. To write. I always liked to write stories since it developed from my love of reading books. I want readers to have similar reactions to when they see my book, to be happy and read it, not moan and say I hate reading. Writing, in my opinion, can be really fun or it can be really boring, but I just like to write creatively.

Like some people, they pick a major by hobby, coming into college undecided, or were inspired by other people. I was inspired by other writers, but my favorite author is James Patterson. I haven't read all of his books yet, but I love the Daniel X series and Maximum Ride series. I also read other authors and branch out to other genres besides science fiction and adventure, but I was mostly reading fiction books or novels. It wasn't that nonfiction and poetry was interesting, some are, it just didn't stick with me as much as fiction stories did. Nonfiction was either too factual or the story wasn't interesting enough and poetry, I couldn't connect to a lot of different types of poetry, but I still read some. Fiction stories, I connect with the storyline and characters better. To be able to write that isn't too factual and it can be as imaginative as you want sounds fun, but I know it's not as easy as it sounds. It takes a lot of work, but is still a lot of fun.

Now, I'm learning a lot of different things you can do with an English major, but I may just think to writing. It's a hobby and passion of mine that I like doing and hopefully I can finally finish a story because if you know me, you know that I have a lot of unfinished stories, and that's okay. I will soon have time to complete them one day and become that successful novelist that I want to be, but it will take time. Which I am ready for.

That is my story on why I came to the decision of becoming an English Creative Writing major.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
