Let me start off by saying this article is not meant to be political or try to sway anyone towards any candidate. It is simply my stance on a controversial topic. Therefore, I hope you read it as such and not as me trying to force my opinions on anyone. No negative comments please. :)
This election has easily been one of the most chaotic and controversial ones in the history of our country. The Democratic candidate was pretty much predetermined from the start of the primaries, but the Republican was uncertain because of the numerous candidates that the race started with. America now has one more choice to make, between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. However, the way I see it, America's decision in this election holds much more weight. The candidate elected will affect the course of country for decades to come as they will have several crucial decisions during their term(s)
One of the most important issues being dealt with in this election is the balance of the Supreme Court. Right now, the Supreme Court is relatively balanced; however, this balance could easily be disrupted. One seat is already open and is set to be filled by a candidate that our next president will appoint. I personally believe a liberal Supreme Court could ruin our country and undermine the values upon which the founding fathers wanted our government based upon. America has already strayed from the values she once held tightly to, and I believe the handful faulty government decisions within the Supreme Court are only glimpses of what could happen if the wrong candidate is elected. Hillary Clinton has affirmed that she will appoint liberal Supreme Court justices, and therefore, making decisions that go against our core values will become normal. The thought of sin becoming the standard of normalcy in our country scares me to death.
Another issue riding on this election is abortion. There are people with strong stances on pro-life or pro-choice. In one of the debates, Hillary Clinton clearly stated that she would allow late term abortions, up until DAYS before the baby will be born. She defends her stance claiming that women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, but she never mentions rights for the children involved. She claims to care about the children of America, yet she agrees with this form of so-called medicine. She says that a fetus has no rights in the womb yet claims to fight for the rights of all American citizens. The thought of taking the life of an innocent child sickens me. There are so many other options for a mother besides this one. So many families long to have children but cannot. Adoption gives them the chance to take a child in as their own and give them a life with a family who cares about them. If the birth parent or parents cannot care for the child, adoption is the best, and I believe, the only option. Termination of a pregnancy brings pain to the child and suffering to the mother, physically and emotionally. Most women regret their decision years down the road. Abortion is not a wise decision, and I believe it should be outlawed. Children are gifts from God, and He never makes a mistake. In everything, He has a plan; we just have to trust Him.
My final point has to do with the personality, trustworthiness, and overall characteristics of a candidate for president. Hillary Clinton has been involved in so many scandals and investigations that have damaged her credibility. From Benghazi to her leaked emails, she has continuously shown that she is not an honest woman. She has changed stances on several issues throughout her career in politics and seems to say anything to gain votes. She claims to believe in rights for women, but I find it hard to believe that some feminists support a candidate who defended a husband who cheated on her. Her slogan "Stronger Together" appears to go against everything I have seen and heard from her because she seems to only go along with anything that will help her public image. She avoids personal questions as if she has something to hide and manipulates her power and finances to get away with her schemes. With that said, Donald Trump has not been completely faultless in the past or during this election. He has made several comments that I do not agree with and that are hurtful to many people. However, he has not hidden himself or his stances in anyway. He has been open and honest with any questions. He may say things before actually thinking about them, but he continually shows himself as a candidate who is for the people of America and one who can make America great again. The controversies surrounding him are trivial in comparison to the big issues facing our nation and minute compared with the ones against Hillary. Hillary Clinton could take us on a path of no return. Her beliefs, values, and policies go against everything our country stands for. Our nation is in need of a revival, and this election could determine where we are heading in the future.
Christians in America need to band together and seek God for wisdom during this election. As Election Day quickly approaches, I pray you all will seek out the facts and decide on the candidate who defends our nation and who will make the choices that are best for our country. Go out and vote on Tuesday, November 11th. You have a voice, but most importantly, you have a choice. Choose wisely.
