The act or an instance of taking one’s own life voluntarily and intentionally, suicide.

The 2nd leading cause of death for ages 15-34, suicide.

121 deaths per day caused by… suicide.

If you are considering being one of those 121 deaths today, this is for you:

This is about you, not anyone else.

I am not here to tell you how many people will be hurt if you end your life;

I am here to talk to you, please listen to me.

First off, let me say… If you are suicidal and you are still here, I am so proud of you.

You have so much pain, more than you can cope with so you feel like you need to end it.

Your thoughts are clouded, you feel like you cannot get your head in one place and anywhere you look, you run into another problem. You see no self-purpose and you see no positives.

So, how else to end the pain, other than ending your life?

Wrong- “Suicide does not end the chances of life getting worse, it eliminates the possibility of it ever getting any better”

You don’t realize you will never again experience a stomach ache from laughing until you cried, if you let suicide win. You don’t realize that you will not get to travel to all the amazing places on this beautiful world, if you let suicide win. You don’t realize that you will never see another colorful sunset on the beach, if you let suicide win. You don’t realize all of the life milestones you are going to miss, if you let suicide win. You don’t think of all the puppies you will never get the chance to fall in love with, if you let suicide win. You don’t realize you will no longer get to enjoy the simple joy of coffee at 6 AM in your pajamas, if you let suicide win. You do not realize this but you will be missing out on more than you can even think of right now,if you let suicide win.

The last thing you want to do is talk to someone or reach out for help. You don’t want to open up to anyone because you will feel completely naked and vulnerable. You believe if you tell someone that you are contemplating suicide they will know everything and see right through you. You don’t want to open up because you feel like you are a burden to others… But let me tell you something, you are the furthest thing from a burden. Your feelings are important and so are you. You are suicidal, but that does not make you weak or flawed.

Don’t let fear take your life, choose to live your life.

A semi-colon is used for the continuation of a sentence, your life isn’t over yet so insert a semi-colon now; and let me tell you what will happen when you choose to live your life.

Things will get better and life will go on.

You will go from a person sitting on the bathroom floor with a pill bottle in your hands sobbing your eyes out to someone who overpowered the thoughts in their head and chose life. You will become successful, whether it is graduating high school, getting a job or even just getting out of bed on a day you have no desire to. You will become a leader and a role model. You will become someone people go to with their problems. All of your broken pieces will come together and you will become a strong, happy person.

You will look back and be proud of yourself. You will be happy you chose life. Most importantly, you will realize that the times filled with sadness only exist to show us how wonderful the good moments in life are.

Someone out there will see your strength and use it to find theirs, so choose to fight and continue to remind yourself that the world is a better place with you in it.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
