"I'm in college I just want to party and enjoy life, I'll worry about Jesus later."
"When I'm older and married I'll do a bible study and be really into Jesus, I just don't have time for that right now."
"I'll make time for Jesus LATER."
We are all busy, we all have obligations. But when these commitments come before your faith, are they really commitments or is it the devil keeping you away? Many college students just want, "the college experience" (drinking, going out, partying, etc) and think they can just worry about religion another time. They're still Christians and still going to church Sundays but there just isn't time, right?Wrong.
I don't know why the college experience has to involve things that are harmful, illegal, and have the potential to ruin your life, instead of involving Jesus who gives nothing but life! There's nothing wrong with having fun and making friends but there is no rule that says college has to involve getting wasted and not remembering what happened the night before. College should be a time to decide the kind of person you want to be for the rest of your life. It should be a time to grow in relationships with your friends, with your parents, and with the Lord.
GIRLS: Use this time in college to pursue Christ. Pursue purity. Pursue modesty. Don't stray from His words, be the woman in Proverbs 31. Don't allow yourself to chase after the things of this world. Don't place your identity in a boy, in your sorority, in your major, in anything other than the One who is worthy of it. I am preaching to myself as well as all girls who struggle with this. Girls, you are BEAUTIFUL. You are powerful. You are in charge of your own future, don't let it be decided for you. Choose Jesus.
BOYS: Coming from a girl, please, don't let yourself get caught up in the madness that is college. Boys, do NOT be conformed to the ways of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). Use this time to pursue Jesus and pursue a Godly relationship, don't allow yourself to be a player. Be the man that God destined for you to be.
There is no rule that says in order to have a significant relationship with Jesus you have to be older, married, and willing to give up every single activity/commitment and focus 300% of your energy on Him. You JUST need to love the Lord and seek out His kingdom. And what better time to begin seeking that then in college? You are on your own, you have more time then you think, and its so easy to spend 20-30 minutes a day in scripture and furthering your walk with the Lord. That way by the time you are ready to settle down and get married, you will be so in love with Jesus that sharing that will be easy. You can easily share that love with everyone you come in contact with. How wonderful would the world be if everyone was willing to simply choose Jesus? If everyone was so in love with our Creator that, that love could spread like wildfire?
Don't wait, choose Jesus NOW. It's the best thing you can do.
