Everyone knows that owning a cat is far different than owning a dog. In some aspects, they require less work, while in others, cats can be quite a pain. In the end, we always care deeply for our pets, but here are a few things that only cat owners can understand.

1. When they want attention, they make it known...

Not only will they insist you give all of your attention to them, they will keep doing it. Cats are very persistent when they want to be.

2. ...but they don't ALWAYS want attention

The world revolves around your cat! If they don't want to interact with you, there is no way to get around it. They run on their own time, and it's their way or the highway!

3. And you can forget about taking cute selfies with your cat

If they are held in one place too long, your cat is bound to get irritated. Cats are a complicated breed. They can be the most patient creatures on the planet, but when it comes to something they don't agree with, odds are, you're going to end up with a paw to the face.

4. They sleep anywhere...

And everywhere...

Regardless of who it may inconvenience.

Something that cats are really good at is making themselves at home. Once they enter a room, it becomes theirs, and they aren't afraid to take it. But due to their adorable features and general likability (for cat people at least), if they fall asleep on us, we cannot move. No matter how much we want to, we won't because there is no way we will risk disturbing their peaceful slumber.

5. You may own a dog, but a cat owns you.

Whether or not you own the house where they dwell, a cat will always be in charge. They sit in the highest places as to be above everyone else because really, they kind of are. They take control of their home and are not afraid to make that clear.

But at the end of the day, you can always count on your furry friend to be there for you.

Whether it is a cat, dog, bird, or other species of pet that you have, they are always there when you get home. You can tell them anything because let's be real, who would they tell anyways? Basically the only person they come into contact with is you. And although it may not always seem like it, they love you unconditionally. So here's to our pets and all of the joy and happiness they bring us every day!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
