To Chip And Joanna Gaines, Thanks For Fixing Us Up
HGTV

As most of Chip and JoJo's fans have probably heard by now, Season 5 of the HGTV show Fixer Upper, which premiers this fall, will be their last season.

After there were rumors swirling around this summer about why the show was ending and if it was ending, the couple finally released an official statement saying that their fifth season would be their last and that their faith and relationship is stronger than ever.

Well, Chip and Joanna Gaines, although there are so many of us who have watched your journey and are so saddened by this, we want to raise a glass to you and say thank you.

Thank you for giving us some of the best designs and for turning any house that looks completely hopeless into a dream home. You have a way of showing us that all things can be restored and more than that, can be better than ever with some hard work, a creative mind, and a lot of love. There are so many projects that you'd show clients and they would look around and say they don't see your vision, but they all have one thing in common (that the viewers at home had as well): they trusted you. With that, so much was possible and it was amazing watching the transformations on this show come to life.

Thank you for making us laugh. Seriously, Chip, you take the cake on this one. You two are so loving and aren't afraid to be your goofy and authentic selves and it doesn't go unnoticed. It's not easy working long hours, especially in the hot Texas sun, and the fact that you both always find time to do fun things together along the way shows that when it's all said and done, a job is just a job and having fun while working is so important. Beyond that, your relationship goes to show that no one is perfect but having someone who you can go through the rough times with but also play and laugh like a kid with is so incredibly important.

Thank you for bringing us into your home and showing us the importance of family. Watching your kids grow up on the show is something that most parents might shy away from to protect their kids, but I think in your case, it's made your fans and audience feel so involved and love the two of you so much more. It's awesome that you two spend time with your kids, specifically make time for your kids, but also bring cameras along to show the cool and fun things you do as a family. It's hard this day in age to see a real family that respects and loves each other also has fun together.

Thank you for being honest and showing that there are bumps along the way. In most episodes, you ran into some type of problem. It may be that the foundation on a house is completely cracked or that the house was missing something so Jo had to go find an accent decoration to make something look just right. Regardless, it's like life and you show us that sometimes you need to have a backup plan or alter your plans altogether to reach your goal. Things can get messy and you'll have to get dirty (or in Chip's case, sweaty) but if you do, your project will turn out worth it and beautiful in the end.

Thank you for taking us on your journey. Thank you for bringing to light all that Waco and Texas has to offer. Thank you for giving us some of the best design ideas we've seen and for having each home you touch hold a special place in your viewers' hearts. Thank you for being silly and happy and strong and cooperative and hard-working in a day where sometimes that's all we need to feel better. Thank you for giving us Magnolia and more than that, a show that feels like we're a part of a family.

Oh and most of all, thank you for #DemoDay and shiplap. Seriously, the world wouldn't be the same without it.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

Who could be a better friend than your own sister?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
