The Adoption of Floyd

A Children's Book

I recently self-published my first children’s book, The Adoption of Floyd through createspace. My mother had told me a story one day of how she had a pet deer on her parents’ farm when she was a little girl. I thought that was neat, and I kept thinking about it. I decided I liked the idea I would write a book about it. My mom hadn’t been adopted, but I have seen how important adoption is becoming in today’s world and I decided that it was a good topic to base the story off of. I have been reading a variety of books frequently ever since I was a little girl. It became a hobby of mine, so it was only natural one day that I would write a book for kids to enjoy, that I got to enjoy in my childhood. I was also an English major in college with a creative writing emphasis. I was constantly writing short stories and editing papers for classmates. Writing and reading are hobbies I have based my life around. They are something that I enjoy, and are the easiest way that I communicate my thoughts and feelings. With the Adoption of Floyd and future books, I wish to communicate to children and (adults in the future) valuable lessons which all age groups can learn from. Books are meaningful. Words make those books meaningful. I love to share those meaningful words with the world. And I'm excited to be able to share the words of The Adoption of Floyd with you.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
