Cartoons were a huge part of childhood. They were a good laugh, and a parent's best friend when they were trying to keep us occupied. Reflecting back on the goofy cartoons of my childhood I'm learning that they taught me more than I thought...
1. "Scooby Doo"
Scooby, Shaggy, and The Gang showed that the only monsters are humans, and that if you have good friends, you can work together to solve just about anything. It also made me have an irrational obsession with Scooby snacks.
2. "The PowerPuff Girls"
Bubbles, Buttercup, and Blossom just confirmed the belief that girl power is unstoppable, and with the right attitude anything can be achieved, even the take down of a mad scientist monkey.
3. "The Rugrats"
Tommy Pickles and Chuckie showed us what a real friendship looks like. No matter what they got themselves into together, they got themselves out. They could even stand up to Angelica!
4. "Dexter’s Laboratory"
Dexter taught resilience. Even when his experiment failed...or blew something up, he never stopped trying to succeed.
5. "Hey Arnold"
Arnold and Harold, his BFF, showed that it’s perfectly okay to be weird. Arnold always stood up for what he believed was right, and he was never afraid to be different.
6. "Courage The Cowardly Dog"
Courage taught….courage. He was always afraid to face his fears but did anyway.
7. "Spongebob"
Spongebob showed what it means to be the kind of person who strives to make the world a better place. Anytime something went wrong in Bikini Bottom, Spongebob made it his first priority to make things right. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
