If people cared as much about feeding a child as they did about all of the latest YouTube drama then no child would ever go hungry. We've talked about James Charles enough, let's talk about something that actually matters.
Child Poverty refers to the state of children living in poverty. This applies to children that come from poor families or orphans being raised with limited, or in some cases absent, state resources.
I mean, I can go on and on about James and Tati because that's what everyone is making a big deal out of — or I can talk about the importance of helping a child make sure they get to eat.
Can you imagine how many kids come to school hungry? That makes them unable to focus in class, which can result in poor performances and bad grades.
Here are a few statistics:
An estimated 48.8 million Americans, including 16.2 million children, live in households that lack the means to get enough nutritious food on a regular basis.
As a result, about 1 in 5 children go hungry at some point during the year.
Did you guys know this statistic? 1 in 7 people in the U.S. faces hunger every year? The rates of hunger in children are even higher, with about 1 in 5 lacking proper access to food at some point during the year.
Around 1 in 5 families with children experiencing food insecurity do not qualify for assistance-based programs, whether it's due to household income, employment requirements or otherwise.
So, instead of caring about some silly YouTube feud, how about taking some time out of your day to make a difference in a child's life? Whether in America or all around the world there are children everywhere that need to eat.
Here are some great organizations that you can donate for or volunteer for!
Imagine what the world would be like if we spent more time helping others rather than worrying about what is going on with some celebrities' personal lives.
Right now the only thing that we should be canceling is child poverty. Let's get out there and ensure that the next generation is ready to go and do amazing things by lending them a hand.
