For some, Valentine’s Day is a romantic opportunity to spend time with their significant other. However, if you’re not in a relationship, Valentine’s Day can be an annoying reminder of your single status — but you don’t have to be bitter! Holidays are an excuse to indulge and relax, so sit back with these 21 chick flicks to remind you of Hollywood’s unrealistic expectations of love!

1. "13 Going on 30"

My love for artsy boys began when I saw Mark Ruffalo was a photographer in "13 Going on 30".

2. "Pretty in Pink"

You cannot have a list of chick flicks without the Queen: Molly Ringwald.

3. "Sixteen Candles"

We all still have a crush on Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles.

4. "Pretty Woman"

Handsome AND rich? Richard Gere really sets the standards high in this film.

5. "Clueless"

We still can't decide if it's weird that Cher and Josh get together in the end, but it's still a classic chick flick we love to re-watch.

6. "She's the Man"

Amanda Bynes taught me the importance of gouda cheese in this movie.

7. "A Cinderella Story"

14 years later and we still don't understand how Austin didn't recognize Sam without this eye mask on.

8. "The Notebook"

It just wouldn't be right to write about chick flicks without bringing up Nicholas Sparks's ability to make us all ugly cry.

9. "The Last Song"

Now accepting applications for someone to scream-sing "She Will be Loved" by Maroon 5 to me.

10. "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist"

As Shakespeare once said, "If music be the food of love, play on."

11. "Juno"

This movie is proof that love can grow in the most difficult situations.

12. "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging"

Boys in bands with British accents is a recipe for success.

13. "Easy A"

Olive Penderghast is the badass we all look up to.

14. "Maid in Manhattan"

If only being a maid is as glamorous as it is for J. Lo in this movie.

15. "Aquamarine"

I'm still waiting to meet my magical mermaid best friend.

16. "John Tucker Must Die"

Relationships can be hard to navigate, especially when your boyfriend is a serial cheater.

17. "Sweet Home Alabama"

Sometimes what we want and what we need aren't the same thing.

18. "(500) Days of Summer"

This movie touches on all the trials and tribulations that come with relationships and breakups.

19. "27 Dresses"

This one is for all my ladies who are always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

20. "10 Things I Hate About You"

There's nothing quite like high school heartbreak.

21. "The Fault In Our Stars"

End your Valentine's Day ugly sobbing at this love story.

Valentine's Day is a holiday designed with couples in mind. If you're single, grab some ice cream, tissues, and start streaming your favorite chick flicks. Remind yourself that love, despite the trouble and pain it can cause, is actually pretty great. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
