Walmart's Great Value brand has come out with a "Chicken Dipping Sauce" and people are wondering just how similar it is to Chick-Fil-A's sauce. As a fan of the original sauce myself, I just had to do a taste test.

But before we get to the opinions part, let's compare a few things.

First, the price!

The Great Value brand rings in at $1.92 for 12 ounces or $0.16 per fluid ounce. The Chick-Fil-A sauce you can get with your meal purchase. However, sometimes they don't give you enough sauce, and some people like using the sauce on more than just Chick-Fil-A products. On Amazon, you can purchase the sauce for $18.80 for 8oz, or $2.35 per fluid ounce.

Next, the ingredients...

The ingredients are strikingly similar, almost a mirror of each other. Both even have a similar order in which the ingredients are listed (showing the hierarchy of the amount of each ingredient used).

Visuals...

Both sauces have these little orange flakes mixed throughout. The color is the big visual difference between the two. The Chick-Fil-A sauce's color is lighter and slightly more yellowish. The Great Value brand's sauce is a few shades darker than the Chick-Fil-A sauce and is a bit more orange. The tone of orange reminds me more of spicy mayo commonly found on sushi (also called "yum-yum" sauce).

Now, onto the taste test!

My first thought when tasting the Chicken Dipping Sauce, the BBQ sauce is a bit stronger with a stronger tangy sensation. My second thought was recognizing that the Chicken Dipping Sauce had less mayonnaise, it didn't seem to have that creamy taste like the Chick-Fil-A sauce. The articles that say, "you can't taste the difference" are wrong. I was able to spot the difference.

However, this does NOT mean the sauce was bad! I thought it was extremely tasty and enjoyed the stronger tangy taste of the BBQ sauce. I plan on purchasing another Chicken Dipping Sauce from Walmart when I finish this bottle! For those who don't mind the minimal difference, this sauce is a fantastic substitute for the Chick-Fil-A sauce!
