Why You Should Watch Chicago P.D.

The first time I saw something about "Chicago PD" I was a freshman in college. It was a preview for the show's series premiere on NBC -- and I remember it because it followed suit to a "Law & Order: SVU" episode. Since the show premiered in January of 2014, it's spanned 3 seasons (a 4th will be premiering in September!) and a whole lot of fans like me.

I managed to get my sister tuned in, and now even my mom watches it with me. Since I'm now officially all caught up on every episode, allow me to give you the many reasons why you too should be watching this amazing show.

The city.

Yes, they actually do film there and it's the coolest set you could imagine. The skyline, the city life and the lights all make the show seem that much more real. Plus they've had episodes in the snow and rain. Talk about dedication.

The characters.

From tough-as-nails Hank Voight to sassy Erin Lindsay, there's a favorite character just waiting for you to love. Each one brings a different perspective to the Intelligence Unit and will really draw you in with their background stories.

The action.

You've got Jay Halstead who will throw a punch faster than you can, while Alvin Olinsky moves so silently you won't even know he's there. Anyone in the 21st District will hurt you if you give them a reason to, so watch your back.

The drama.

From undercover missions to covert ops, CPD has been in so many scary and suspenseful situations. It definitely keeps you guessing to see who will come out alive -- and who won't survive.

The one-liners (and every other funny moment).

Sergeant Trudy Platt (shown above) has the best sarcastic snippets ever; but paired with the slight stupidity of Adam Ruzek or the naiveness of Kim Burgess, it's television gold.

The cast.

I mean, look at them. How could you not wanna see these guys in action?

The heart.

Once you've seen a few episodes, you'll immediately become attached. Part of that is due to the immense camaraderie you see onscreen. They all have each other's backs and stick together no matter what. It's hard not to cry when they do, or get angry when something goes wrong for them. You're with them the whole way through, and that's pretty cool.

The crossovers.

"Chicago P.D" has done crossover episodes with"Law & Order: SVU" as well as "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago Med." So, if you're a fan of Taylor Kinney (aka the future Mr. Lady Gaga), Mariska Hargitay ("SVU's" Olivia Benson) or Torrey DeVitto (Melissa from "Pretty Little Liars") sharing the screen with Sophia Bush (also known as Brooke Davis from "One Tree Hill") and Jason Beghe ("Californication") then you'll absolutely love seeing these shows come together for epic events. You can see all your favorite actors take down criminals together. What's more fun than that?

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
