The Cubs: Is This Their Year?

I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to feel right now. The Chicago Cubs are arguably the best team in the Major League right now and I'm not used to it. The Cubs host the best record in league at 103-58. The last time they won 100 games in a season was 1935. This young Cubs team is hot as they get ready for playoffs and there are many who believe that this might be the year they finally win the World Series. It has been over 100 years since they've won a World Series and haven't even been to a World Series since 1945, but this year's club is looking to change all of that.

Now, I'm sure those of you reading are curious as to why I'm writing about the Cubs. I mean I'm a guy from the Kansas City area so you'd think I'd be a Royals fan, or at least Cardinals fan, but honestly I can't stand either one of those teams. Call me the odd man here, but I am 100% a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Some like to say that I'm a bandwagon fan, and if you don’t know what that means, it means that somebody likes a certain team only because their good, and they constantly switch to the best team at the time. I can assure you that I am not a bandwagoner. I have been a fan of the Cubs ever since I was a child. I've also stuck by my team through all of the rough seasons of finishing under .500 and being the laughing stock of the NL Central, but now I have something to cheer about. This season took me a bit by surprise because I honestly didn’t expect the Cubs to do as good as they've done. I expected them to make the playoffs again and to even make a run at the World Series, but I didn’t expect them to do it with such dominance. This year's team is definitely special.

The skill that the Chicago Cubs possess is truly spectacular. After their run last season, the Cubs worked hard in the offseason to fill in the missing pieces. The acquisitions of Ben Zobrist, John Lackey, andJason Heyward were great additions to make their team even better. Then of course the Cubs have a very solid pitching rotation, with Jake Arrieta as the anchor and they have a young, but extremely talented lineup. This lineup is led by the dynamic duo of Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant. Although these two guys are easily stars for their team, every player on the team has a role and they are very successful at filling that role. The thing that makes this team stand out from all the others is that they are genuinely having fun every day. They treat every day like party and the relationship that they all have with one another is ridiculously strong.

The Chicago Cubs are having an outstanding season and it's truly a treat to watch whether you're a fan or not. Hopefully these Cubbies can carry their success into the postseason and get the opportunity to end their drought. If you're a Cubs fan then you'd better be ready to watch some great postseason games. At the end of it all I'm hoping the Cubs can Fly the W!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
