9 Legitimate Reasons Chicago Beats Out New York City Anyday

For decades, two major U.S. cities have been at it: New York and Chicago. I'm sure that most Americans believe that New York is the face of America. It's bigger, better, and livelier. However, I believe differently. Living in the Chicago suburban area, I have had unlimited access to it's beautiful city. Personally, I think that many of Chicago's aspects can beat out New York's any old day. Chicago can be very underrated, so it's time that the spotlight made its way to the Windy City.

1. The pizza

First and foremost, Chicago pizza is way high up on the ladder. I've tried New York style pizza. I do have to say it's delicious, but nothing beats out a classic Chicago style deep dish. It's cheesy, gooey, crispy, buttery, and all around an indulgent treat. Beat that, NYC.

2. The building experience

Your buildings may be beautiful, New York, but ours are breathtaking. Can you stand on a glass deck hundreds of feet above the ground and see four different states at the same time? No. Can you lean over the city from 360 degrees? No.

3. Lake Michigan

The beach is literally RIGHT THERE. New York may have a bigger body of water next to them, but Lake Michigan is full of activities, from boating to heading out to Navy Pier for the view. Plus, you can walk over the rivers that connect to the lake.

4. Wrigley Field

One of the most iconic baseball fields ever. It's beautiful and traditional, and home to the one and only Cubbies. There's even a neighborhood dedicated to it, Wrigleyville- it's full of life, fun, and drinks.

5. The fact that this beautiful city rose up from flames and ashes

As you may know, Chicago suffered a devastating fire back in the late 19th century. It left thousands of people homeless, hurt, and dead. Chicago, being it's strong self, pushed through the ashes with its beauty.

6. Maggie Daley Park

This wonderland is freaking AMAZING. I'm 20 years old, and I can't help but swing on it's swings and soar across its bridges. This park is a dream come true, with it's huge playground, skating ribbon, and beautiful view.

7. The Bean

What other seemingly pointless but somehow popular piece of architecture is there to see in New York? You can't really take pictures of yourself in a reflective statue there. I don't know why, but people seem to love it.

8. The dining scene

Chicago's food scene is so diverse. You can basically find anything, from one-of-a kind pastries to Chicago-style dogs. Also a plus, Chicago is home to Wildberry Pancakes and Café, the absolute BEST brunch destination in the whole entire universe. You can not beat Oreo S'more pancakes or Red Velvet French Toast. New York has some great bucket-list worthy places, but when in Chicago, you know what you want and you want it now.

9. The shopping scene

You can never shop too much when in Chi-Town. There are shops on every block. In New York, you may have to travel far just to get to your destination. Perks of being a smaller city: it's easier to get everywhere!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
