Tom Hanks announced via Instagram yesterday that he and his wife Rita Wilson are being quarantined in Australia because they tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
View this post on InstagramHello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive. Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks' will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We'll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves! Hanx!

Tom explained that they had flu- and cold-like symptoms and got tested to be safe. He said that "Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed" so they will be treated and isolated in Australia.
The couple's son, Chet Hanks, took to his Instagram account as well to update the public on the nature of his parents' condition.
He noted that they were in Australia because Tom is shooting a movie there. He went on to say that they feel fine and "aren't even that sick."
He says that he doesn't think it's "anything to be too worried about" and thanked everyone for their thoughts and "well wishes."

I'm going to be honest, I really am unsure of why he posted this, it was kind of just him recapping what we know with a twist of "they'll be fine." My biggest question for Chet is why aren't you wearing a shirt in a video of you updating the public on your parents' coronavirus condition? Not exactly the best time for a thirst trap.
Hopefully soon we can get an update from Chet regarding his parents' treatment, but for now, we can have peace knowing that "they're not trippin'."
