Cheers To Second Semester

Last semester took some L's but now I'll bounce back... here are the top five things I'm looking forward to second semester!

1. Becoming closer with my flatmates

First semester is always awkward. No one understands each other yet and our weird antics haven’t fully shined through. With second semester creeping around the corner I’m excited to spend more time with the people who have become my second family.

2. Yoga class every Monday

I promised myself that college would not only be a place of academia, but a place where I can begin to focus on my self and who I wish to become. The best way to feel enlightened to do so is through rest and relaxation and although the college lifestyle is hectic and stressful, this will be my way of finding sturdy ground.

3. Taking classes geared towards my major

As a person who prefers writing over math equations, it will finally be a breath of fresh air to not worry about core requirements and start getting focused on the things that truly interest me.

4. Going on adventures

First semester was a confusing time in which it took me a while to completely settle down and find my way, but now that I have, I am excited for the spontaneous drives through North Carolina, unexpected camping trips and discovering places I never thought possible. All with my best friends of course.

5. Meeting more people

Rather than confining myself to just running and being apart of a team, my goal this upcoming semester is to get more involved around campus and willingly introduce myself to as many people as possible.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
