It's 1 am, you have several assignments due and all you keep doing is scrolling on your phone, and you're the opposite of focused. When you're in class the next day and viewing your grades, you're so angry at yourself. You keep telling yourself how pointless this all is. School, jobs, trying to figure out who you are as a person, and just life in general. It's all so stressful.
You can't stand your job. You and your high school boyfriend/girlfriend have officially reached the "it's complicated" phase. Maybe you're gaining weight. Maybe you're losing too much. There are so many things that constantly weigh on your mind.
The biggest problem with everything I just mentioned is, you're not focused. It happens to everyone. You get so doubtful. All you need to do is regain that. College can be a beautiful thing if you let it be.
You keep asking yourself, why the heck are you doing this? Well, I want you to ask yourself that question again. But this time, don't allow it to be a negative rhetorical thing. Allow it to be an eye opener.
College is a huge step in adulthood. Adulthood is a huge step in life. They both can be so overwhelming but don't quit. Don't compare your accomplishments to anyone else's, just admire your own that you've made thus far.
Start looking at all the positive aspects of college. Step out of your comfort zone and meet some awesome new people. Join a group on campus. Take advantage of all the knowledge you're receiving. Knowledge is power. Expanding your mind is going to pay off. No matter how many times you feel like giving up, it will never be the correct solution to the stressful aspect of college.
Think of why you went in the first place. Why the heck are you doing this? Because your major is your passion. Someone in this world needs your talent. You DO have a purpose. Stop letting grades define your intelligence. Focus. Work ahead if you have to. The next time you're up randomly at 1am and know you have assignments due, work on them. Your future matters.
Regain your focus of your passion. What's driving you? Have faith in your craft. Take breaks from homework and studying when you need to. Create healthy habits to reduce stress.
Good things do take time. A storm always comes before the sunshine. Lift your head up and please don't drop out of college. You didn't come this far for nothing. So again, from one college student to another, DON'T DROP OUT OF COLLEGE. You've got this.
