Everyone has to start somewhere. No matter what you choose to do with your life, if you’re a hard worker and you’re good at what you do, you will succeed.
So, with that being said, stop giving me your negative opinions on what I might choose to do with my life.
When you ask what I have planned for after college, or even during college for that matter… what I give you as an answer is just what I’m thinking about. Nothing is guaranteed, and nothing is promised.
It isn’t just me who’s sick of your negative opinions. I know I’m not the only one who can’t bear another second with those who feed negative opinions through one of my ears just for it to flow out the other.
Nobody wants to hear “It sounds like you’d have to move in order to find success with that!,” or “I sure hope you know how to handle your finances!” or “That sounds like more of a dream than a life plan,” or (the best one yet)... “None of those careers are good ideas, honey.”
Maybe they weren’t good ideas for you…
Why would you be a hairdresser if you have no interest in doing somebody else’s hair?
Why would you be a nurse if you can’t handle taking care of somebody else?
Why would you be an interior designer if you couldn’t care less how “pretty” a room looks?
Why would you be a dentist if you absolutely hate the idea of cleaning inside somebody else’s mouth?
Why would you be a journalist if you hate to write?
Why would you be a veterinarian if you really don’t like animals?
Certain things are meant for certain people, but your negative opinions are not meant for me.
Everyone carries their own interests, hobbies, career ideas… that’s what makes someone unique.
So, before you bash something somebody else may have put extreme thought into, stressed over, built excitement about, or put some sort of engagement into, think about whether or not your negative opinion is necessary. Because It’s not.
And If you can’t tell whether or not an opinion is negative, it is.
If you’re giving your thoughts in order to “Help a girl out,” or to “Save me from choosing a bad career,” keep it to yourself… I have enough opinions on it myself.
I’m sorry, but I don’t need yours.
