Check Out Love Your Melon Today

One night about one month ago I was laying in my bed and my roommate screams in excitement so I freaked out wondering why she was screaming. Then she told me and showed me so I screamed in excitement. So we started a club on campus. She had asked me if I ever heard of Love Your Melon and I hadn’t. So for those of you that do not know like I didn’t, Love you melon is an apparel brand dedicated to helping pediatric patients. Their goal is to provide every pediatric patient with a hat and they support nonprofit organization as they help fight pediatric cancer. They partner with Cure Search and the Pinky Swear Foundation. They sell hats, beanies, sleeveless shirts, long-sleeve shirts, t-shirts, mugs, headbands, scarves, sweatshirts, tote bags, and tassels. We get questions a lot about if their apparel is for guys too and the answer is yes. Two men actually started LYM. Zach and Brian stated LYM in an entrepreneurship class at the University of St. Thomas in in St. Paul Minnesota. Zach Quinn, the Love Your Melon president, comments on the founding of LYM, “Brian and I found Love You Melon while we were sophomores in college. We wanted to help those in need so we created 400 hats and kicked off our buy one give one program. On December 18, 2012, we went on our first hospital donation event. Seeing the smiles we created by giving the kids Love Your Melon hats and spending time with them was an incredible experience. We were inspired to keep making our hat.” I will say I’m very happy to see them continue to make their hats and put the biggest smiles on these children’s faces.

These children deserve the world. They look at the world with a positive attitude like we should be doing. They are humble and still are the most unselfish people I have met, even with their cancer. Many of are blessed with good health and we can be the most negative and most selfish people in the world. LYM gives these children a chance at life and provides them with all kind of support. When these children receive something as simple as a hat they have a smile that goes all the way to their ears. I encourage you to help keep these big smile on these children’s faces. You can do this by going to loveyourmelon.com and checking it out. Even if you do not like the apparel maybe your sister, mother, grandchildren, or your nieces and nephews would. 50% of the profit goes toward these children so go check it out today and continue helping these kids fight pediatric cancer!

I've known you your entire life. More than likely I held you in the first three days of it and at least one of us cried. Cousins are truly one of the best things in the world and while sometimes I complain about how many people crowd Grandma's living room on Christmas Eve, I wouldn't trade you all anything.

You are my best friends, the only people who can understand what it's like on Thanksgiving, and you are the spunkiest people I have ever met. But you as so so young, most of you are just now starting your adventures in the public education system. I mean, I'm so very young too. I'm not married, I don't have children, heck, I just started my adult life, but I do want to give you what little advice I have. My dears, these are the things I want you to know.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
