These 5 Skincare Tricks Cleared Up My Skin In Quarantine, And They're All Under $10

In This Article:

During quarantine, I've found myself wanting to use this time to focus on something fun for myself: skincare. I've always struggled with a love-hate relationship with my skin. Somedays I love the way my skin looks, other days I can't stand it. I decided that I was going to use this time at home to really focus on my skin and get to feel the best that I can.

Here are 5 skincare items I invested in that have changed my life!

A cleanser that makes your skin feel SOFT!

The SOS Oil Balancing Mousse Cleanser by Oh K! can be found at Amazon (online) for only $7.20. This cleanser is great to use at the beginning of your routine, morning and night, because it will remove left over makeup. It focuses on balancing oil and preventing breakouts. After using this cleanser day and night for one week my skin had cleared up immensely.

An exfoliating mask that also hydrates!

The Black Sugar Mask (Wash Off) by SKINFOOD can be found at Amazon (online only) for $10.00. This wash-off mask is an exfoliating and hydrating mask that will leave your skin feeling soft and new. Apply the mask to damp skin and then leave on for 10 to 15 minutes.

A little goes a long way with this mask, so the 3 OZ container should be enough for a very long time. I've been using this mask only in the morning and have noticed my skin ALWAYS looks so fresh after.

A toner that actually works!

The SOS pH Balancing Gel Toner by Oh K! can be found at ULTA (online) for $6.00. This toner is the first one that I've actually seen results with. The toner has witch hazel and tea tree oil that is used to balance and calm the skin. Since using this product morning and night, I've noticed the redness in my skin has decreased DRASTICALLY. Since I'm using this cleanser that is specifically made to go with this product, I really recommend getting both!

A moisturizer that makes your skin feel refreshed!

The Chok Chok Glowing Moisturizer by Oh K! can be found at Amazon (online) for $9.00. This moisturizer is lightweight and has shea butter to help your skin retain moisture. After using this moisturizer I've found my skin to literally seem to be glowing. It really makes my skin feel so soft and healthy after every use, morning and night.

A serum that isn't super expensive!

The Chok Chok Illuminating Serum by Oh K! can be found at ULTA (online) for $9.00. I've always wanted to incorporate a serum into my skincare routine but have found most of the "best" ones are always really expensive. When I found this I was so excited!

The serum is lightweight and perfect to use with the moisturizer mentioned above. It helps with skin regeneration and helps "plump, illuminate, and enhance" your skin! This has definitely become my favorite product to use in my morning and evening routine.

All of these products found at ULTA (online) have really been life-changing!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
