Charmed fans rejoice! Or... not? The rumors of a reboot have finally been confirmed, and fans are conflicted, to say the least. Charmed was my entire childhood, and while I loved the show, I have several reasons for thinking why a reboot is a bad idea. Honestly, I'm terrified that people in the cooperate world are only making the reboot because they think it will make money (more than likely the reason), and I don't want to see my favorite show ruined because they were trying to follow the "reboot trend".
1. Reboots Need a Reboot
The idea of rebooting a beloved show seemed great with shows like Fuller House and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but maybe they should end there? As much as I love Gilmore Girls, the reboot was disappointing and didn't have a great chance of meeting my expectations.
2. The Original Cast
Or more like a lack-there-of. When the reboot was announced, fans were thrilled with the idea of seeing their favorite characters gracing our screens once more, but when it was made clear that there would be a new cast, the excitement kind of died down.
3. Reboot? Prequel? Reboot-Prequel?
Honestly, it seems like no one really knows what's going on. First it was a reboot, then it was a prequel, now it's a separate series? Are they even calling it "Charmed"? No one knows for sure.
4. Not With a Bang, But With a Fizzle
The idea of a Charmed reboot sounded amazing before it was a prequel/ separate series without the original series. It's not what the fans wanted, and without the fans, it's not going to do so well.
Charmed fans never thought something like this would happen, but now that it is, we're just praying they don't screw it up. My fingers are crossed that this really does go well, though. Like I said earlier, Charmed was (and still is) my favorite show, and I would seriously hate to see it ruined by a reboot that tried to hard or missed the idea that is Charmed completely.
