Charlotte's Best: Restaurant Edition

Charlotte has a lot to offer, but one of my favorite things is the wide variety of authentic, delicious food! Whether you're in the mood for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert, one of these places will definitely strike your fancy! These are just a few of my favorite local restaurants:

Terrace Café

Terrace Café, located in both Ballantyne and SouthPark, is one of my preferred brunch spots. From mouth-watering omelets to fruit platters to red-velvet waffles, there is definitely something here for everyone! They also have an equally delicious lunch and dinner menu!

Royal Café & Crêperie

Located in Downtown Matthews, Royal Café and Crêperie is the perfect place for crepe lovers. This quaint, charming spot is great for a quick, delicious meal with friends! For first timers, I would definitely recommend the Italian Job and the S'more Crepes.

Hasaki Grill & Sushi

Located right near BB&T Ballpark and Romare Bearden Park in Uptown Charlotte, Hasaki Grill is excellent for those looking for sushi or hibachi on a budget!

131 Main

Although it may tend to be more on the expensive side, this is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Perfect for a special occasion or date night, 131 Main has a wide variety of steaks, seafood, and gourmet salads. There are currently four locations: Blakeney, Dilworth, Lake Norman, and Asheville.

Amelie's French Bakery

Amelie's French Bakery, located in NoDa, has become a more popular destination among Charlotteans over the years. Even though it has become more well known, you can't get tired of its' beautiful and unique french decor and delicious desserts. My absolute favorite is the Strawberry Mousse Cup, something I would recommend to all chocolate lovers!

Illios Noche

Illios Noche has been described as the perfect blend of Greek and Italian food. Noted for being "sophisticated yet still kid friendly," I would definitely recommend this restaurant to families!

Cantina Fifteen Eleven

A delicious Mexican place located next to Firebirds in Stonecrest. Although it may be a little more expensive than your average Mexican food, the wide variety of tacos and quesadillas make it worth it!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
