We've made it into February, and we're ever-so-slowly seeing bursts of nicer weather. (Let me knock on wood about that real quick.) Many of us probably made that dreaded New Year's Resolution of getting in shape again but didn't stick to the gym because it was overcrowded with everyone who had the same resolution.

As nicer weather approaches, cut the gym and start putting in work outside and raising money for a charity of your choice with Charity Miles.

Charity Miles is a running, cycling, and walking tracker app that tracks how many miles you've covered during your fitness routine. Plus, Charity Miles also earns money for charity on your behalf for every mile you move, via brand fitness exercise sponsors like Humana, Johnson & Johnson, and Chobani!

This is no joke. You can raise money for your favorite charity each time you walk, run, or bike indoors or outdoors! Let's talk about motivation to go that extra mile!

When Charity Miles first began, its developers had an initial pool of $1 million to donate to the charities of the app user's choice. Since then, the money has run out, but Charity Miles had a plan to continue their "do-good" by reaching out to corporations to become sponsors to make donations on the app user's behalf. Who wouldn't sign up to help a company for one, get our population active and two, benefit charities in need.

With each mile that you run or walk, you make 25 cents per mile for your charity; biking earns 10 cents per mile. You can get started immediately without telling the app anything about yourself if you're in a rush, but like other apps, you are able to sign-up with your e-mail or with Facebook as well. As long as you have your location setting on, you're able to use it anywhere/anytime - if your phone isn't dead, of course! We're talking while you're walking the dog, while your walking across campus, running a marathon, or just putting in a few miles for yourself.

You have the chance to benefit one of the following charities anytime you use the app:

A list full of amazing charities, and you don't have to stick to just one. Anytime you open the app for a new run/walk/bike adventure, you can select any one of the charities, and the next time, you can select another to benefit!

Charity Miles has also been recognized for several awards:

  • Women’s Running Magazine’s Best Overall App
  • Men’s Fitness Magazine’s Game Changer of the Year
  • Winner of the SXSW People’s Choice Award
  • Winner of a 2014 Webby Award

Download (iPhone or Android) or today and get to moving and making a difference, at the same time!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
