Alpha Chi Omega's chapter president, Taylor Peebles, said a few words about the University of Alabama chapter.

“It is hard to sum up my experience in Alpha Chi Omega because it has given me so much more than I ever imagined it could. Alpha Chi cultivates such meaningful, genuine friendships as well as help build character, challenge all of us in the community and campus, and teach us the true meaning of friendship. Alpha Chi has been my support system in college through the celebrations and trials, and to me -- that’s what a sisterhood is all about.”

The 2014 pledge class also said a few words about why they decided to pledge Alpha Chi.

“They say you just know and they were right. When I think back on recruitment, I remember skimming my schedule each morning to ensure that Alpha Chi Omega was on my list. I stood enthusiastically while I waited for Alpha Chi to open their doors, sing their door song, and welcome everyone inside. All of the girls were genuine and fun, like I had known them forever! From the start, I felt at home and being from out of state, that was really important to me. Running home to Alpha Chi on bid day, I knew I had made the right choice. I love that I walk into the house knowing everyone’s name and I love all of the amazing friends I’ve made. My freshman year wouldn’t have been the same without Alpha Chi, all the memories made and the laughs shared. I love how Alpha Chi makes me a better person. As they say in the Broadway show, 'Wicked.’ 'Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.'" Caroline Reinhardt, PC '14.

“I loved Alpha Chi throughout recruitment because of the way I clicked with the girls I met. It was so easy for me to walk into the house and have a good conversation with anyone I met. I knew that the people I talked to were genuinely good people, which made me feel good about choosing Alpha Chi. You want to surround yourself with people who will bring out the best in you, and I feel like that’s what made me love Alpha Chi.” Hunter Custard, PC '14.

“No one in my family had ever been in a sorority and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect during recruitment week. I remember thinking that I just want to find a house that feels like a home. That is exactly what I found at Alpha Chi. I felt so relaxed from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. The genuine friendships and positive energy that were so apparent in the house showed me what sisterhood was all about and I couldn’t wait to be apart of it! I built so many lifelong relationships and memories freshman year because of Alpha Chi and I am forever thankful!” Meredith Diaz, PC '14.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
