The Next Chapter

After finishing with finals, it's time for me to reflect on some things I've learned about myself this semester.

The Next Chapter

Now that finals have ended I have had a little bit of time to reflect on how my semester ended. While I may have finished strong, I did not make the Dean's list because I missed it by 0.17 points...believe me I'm still mad about it as well. However, despite that, I have been told to use that 0.17 points as drive and motivation to push forward and work harder during the spring semester. This will also be my last semester of college....YAAAAAY!

I have learned several things this semester that I plan to incorporate during the spring semester.

Those are:

1. Plan:

I need to plan accordingly for the semester and allow myself some downtime. I've learned from past experiences that without having a list or a schedule to follow, things will not go the way I had anticipated them too.

2. Prioritize:

I need to prioritize my time and what is important. For example, studying for a quiz a few days in advance might be more beneficial to me than watching the next episode of CSI:NY. Netflix will always be there waiting for me, but only after I finish the important stuff first.

3. Stop procrastinating:

Ugh. I struggle with this one on the daily. It's hard not to procrastinate. Tbh, I'm doing it right now...but I need to recognize the fact that procrastinating on my schoolwork will also reflect in my grades. I need to break this habit, or get better at it.

4. Stop stressing:

How does one stop stressing about life? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!

& lastly

5. Live in the moment:

I would say this one is pretty big on my list. It's hard to believe that we're already halfway through December. I really want to work on this one and just enjoy life. Nobody knows how long we'll live, and I want to make sure I make the most of mine.

I hope that by incorporating these 5 *rules* into my last semester of college I will be able to be more successful not only in my academic career, but also my professional career too.

I keep getting asked: "Where are you going after you finish school?", or "What are your plans after graduation?"

Honestly I wish I had the answer for y'all because I would like to know too. So here's what I am going to do instead...

I plan on starting the spring semester strong. I will set goals and aim to achieve them. I will try to tell myself to not stress as much during the semester, but if any of you know me, then you know how impossible that is for me. I need to plan for my future and get serious with my career plans and goals because graduation is right around the corner!

In the meantime I am going to simply live in the moment and take each day as it comes.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
